Brenda Smith Meadows, 69, of Oakvale went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side. Born June 25, 1948 in Oakvale she was the daughter of the late Claude D. Smith and Eupha Harry Smith. Brenda was a homemaker and longtime employee of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale. She was a very active member of the Oakvale United Methodist Church, a member of the East River Ruritan Club and Board Member of the Oakvale Cemetery Association. She had been a lifelong resident of this area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil T. “Gary” Meadows; and two sisters, Marguerite Clemons and Jeanette Anderson.  Survivors include two daughters, Teri Farley and husband Mark of Oakvale and Alisha Meadows of Morgantown, WV; two special grandsons, Brandon Booth and Tyler Farley; one sister, Carolyn Clyburn and husband Morris of Oakvale; three brothers, Junior Smith and E.W. Smith and wife Drema all of Oakvale, and Leon Smith and wife Wanda of Glen Lyn, VA; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Morris Clyburn and Pastor Todd Gray officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakvale Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service hour on Sunday. Brenda always said she wanted flowers while she was living so her family suggests if desired that memorial contributions be made to the Oakvale United Methodist Church, C/O Melinda Perdue, 2824 Cheesy Creek Rd., Princeton, WV 24739.
