Carlos Wayne Whitt, 69, of the Oakvale area, passed away Friday February 23, 2018 at the Beckley Veterans Hospital. Born September 23, 1948 to the late Carl C. Whitt and Edith Harry Whitt. Wayne was a graduate of Oakvale High School. He then joined the Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict. Wayne was a heavy equipment operator for Vecellio & Grogan. He was employed by Keen Associates as foreman of epoxy flooring. Wayne also worked for Jennelle’s Paving and Sealing. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was of the protestant faith. Wayne was preceded in death by sisters; Glenda Clemons, Sandra Whittaker and Frances Jennelle. Brother; Earnest (Buck) Whitt; Wife, Christine (Tina) Whitt. Survivors include son, Chris and Angie Whitt and granddaughter, Reagan; Son, Garrett and Angel Whitt and their children, Peyton and Bryceson all of Peterstown. His brother, Carl (Randy) Whitt and Laura of Oakvale. Step daughter Jeannie Johnson and step grandsons, LJ and Tyler. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a great-great niece and nephew, plus, great step grandchildren. Services to celebrate the life of Carlos Wayne Whitt will be held, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 7:30 P.M. from the G. E. Davis Chapel of the Fredeking Funeral Home in Oakvale. Military graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard at the Oakvale Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Those attending the graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 A.M. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. Tuesday until the service hour.
