W. Evelyn Comer, 91, of the Pleasant Hill Community died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born November 16, 1925 in Pleasant Hill she was the daughter of the late John Whittaker and Lura Dunagan Whittaker. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Evelyn loved reading and studying American History and enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening. Her favorite pastime while confined indoors was quilting. She was a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill residing in her birth home her entire life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey “T” Lee Comer; three sisters, and four brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include one son, Boyd Comer and wife Donna of Bluefield, VA; two daughters, Vella Comer and Juanita Comer both of the home at Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren, Ryan Comer and David Comer both of Bluefield, VA; and one great granddaughter, Brianna Comer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Rev. Thurman Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Whittaker Family Cemetery at Pleasant Hill. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 (today) from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
