Edward Wayne “E.W.” Smith, 75, of Goodwyns Chapel Rd. Princeton died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born November 28, 1942 in Oakvale he was the son of the late Claude D. Smith and Eupha Harry Smith. E.W. was a 1960 graduate of Oakvale High School and a member of the Oakvale United Methodist Church. He was a former employee of the Dean Company in Princeton and StoneHard Flooring Company. E.W. was an honorary member of the Oakvale Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the East River Ruritan Club and the Oakvale Cemetery Association. He was a lifelong resident of Oakvale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite Clemons, Jeanette Anderson, and Brenda Meadows. Survivors include his wife Drema S. Christian Smith of Goodwyns Chapel Rd.; one daughter, Sherry Davis and companion Michael Combs of Oakvale; one son, Terry Smith and wife Rene of Hillsville, VA; two grandchildren, Jessica Owens and husband Steven and Courtney Davis all of Oakvale; two great grandchildren, Brytan and Beckham; one sister, Carolyn Clyburn and husband Morris of Oakvale; two brothers, Junior Smith of Oakvale and Leon Smith and wife Wanda of GlenLyn, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Olen Robertson, Pastor Bill Crawford, and Pastor Morris Clyburn officiating. Burial will follow at Oakvale Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the service hour on Saturday.
