Roy E. Pendleton, 97, of Browns Road, Kellysville, WV died Thursday, March 7, 2019. Born in Beckley June 4, 1921 he was the son of the late James and Kate Thompson Pendleton. Roy retired as Unit Supervisor with Appalachian Electric Power at Glen-Lyn after 37 years of service. He was a member of New Zion Regular Baptist Church and was very active while his health permitted. For many years Roy was the contact person for New Zion Cemetery for plot information and arranging for burials. In addition to his parents his wife, Irene Pendleton and three infant children preceded him in death. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifelong resident of Mercer County. Survivors include one son, Roy E. Pendleton, Jr. and wife Linda of Kellysville; three grandchildren, Walter Pendleton and wife Penny of Kellysville, Paul Pendleton and wife Paula of Princeton and Pamela Adams of Kellysville; several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Emma Robertson of AZ and two brothers, Boyd Pendleton of Beckley and Frankie Pendleton of Baltimore, MD. A Celebration of Mr. Pendleton's life will be conducted at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale at 1:00 PM Monday, March 11, 2019, with his grandson, Walter Pendleton, officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery in Cheesy Creek. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 Noon to the service hour. Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale is serving the Pendleton family.
