William "Bill" White

William Melvin (Bill) White, 89, of Pleasant Hill Road near Oakvale, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 21, 2019 at Mercer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bluefield. Born September 26, 1929, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late T.R. “Ted” White and Vernie Simpkins White.  Bill was married for almost 50 years, to Bessie Stowers, his “blue-eyed girl.”  Bill retired from Concord College and attended the Princeton First Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his first wife, Bessie, a daughter, Brenda Sue, a son, Gary, a brother, Junior White, and his second wife, Blanche. He is survived by a daughter, Frances “Christine” White, who truly loved her dad; One sister, Shelby Akers and husband James; One brother, Bernard White and wife Joyce;  Special friend, Betty Montgomery; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of William “Bill” White will be held Wednesday June 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service, Oakvale, WV with Pastor Franklin Adkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Elgood Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.  Online Condolences may be shared with the family via www.fredekingfs.com.
