Basil Ray Comer

Basil Ray Comer, 76, of Princeton (Elgood Road) passed away at his home Saturday, October 27, 2018 after a long illness. Born May 26, 1942 in Elgood he was the son of the late Bessie Mae and Reverend Roy Comer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Demma White. Basil was married to his loving wife Marian Smith Comer for 45 years and had a loving pet, Digger. Basil was a graduate of Oakvale High School, Class of 1960 and served in the US Army for two years. He was formerly employed at WV Pulp & Paper, WV Armature, and retired from Downard Hydraulics. Basil loved his church family of Gospel Light of Faith in Kellysville and all his brothers and sisters in Christ he met at all the churches he visited. He was an avid teacher of the Bible and he loved the word of God. In addition to his wife survivors include one daughter, Katrina Comer Dunlop and husband Lawrence; four sons, Timothy Comer and wife Wendy, Michael Comer and wife Lora, James Jones, and wife Lisa, and Troy Jones and wife Tonia; 12 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Wolf and Daisy Jenkins and husband Lee Roy;  and one brother, William Ronald Comer. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Basil will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 30, 2018 (today) at Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Ginger Neely and Bishop Roger W. Lafferty, Jr. officiating. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Broyles Family Cemetery on New Zion Road. Those attending the graveside committal on Wednesday are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour on Tuesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
