Calvin Abert Browning, 74, of Princeton, West Virginia, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, entering Heaven on May 11, 2023. He was born December 9, 1948, in Justice, WV to the late Leonard and Stella Browning. In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded by two brothers: Kenneth Browningand Leland Browning. Calvin was a ‘66 graduate from Gilbert High School, followed by successful careers in coal mining and core drilling to include positions of superintendent and co-owner. He was a dedicated member of the Iaeger Lodge and rose to the rank of Master Mason. Calvin and Freda moved from Cub Creek to Princeton, WV in 1994 where they designed, built, and landscaped what has become a place where family gathers and celebrates life. Calvin was a hardworking craftsman and is known for numerous projects over his life. He was an avid gardener, mechanic, and carpenter; enjoyed cooking, fishing. Friends and family knew they could always rely on Calvin as a helping hand, skills taught, and advice. Calvin was very proud of his family and cherished time spent with them. Calvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Freda Gaye Browning; two sons, Calvin Dale (Kimberly) Browning of Sumter, SC; Steven Todd (Janet) Browning of Millersville, MD; and daughter Amy Elizabeth (Jarrod) Snider of Jefferson Hills, PA; six grandchildren, Austin Browning; Ashlee Browning; Logan Browning; Xavier Snider; London Snider; and Tobias Snider; and one brother, Cletis (Shelia) Browning of Hanover, WV; one sister-in-law Deloris Browning; and a host of nieces and nephews. Burial Services will be conducted at four in the afternoon, Saturday, 13 May, 2023 at the Browning Family Cemetery. Masonic burial rites will be conducted by Leland Browning Jr. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Fredeking Funeral Service of Princeton, WV, will be assisting the family.
