Dorothy Louise Brown

Dorothy Louise Brown, 88, of Oakvale died peacefully on Tuesday March 15, 2022, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek. She was born January 10, 1934, in Jenkins, KY to the late Albert Smith and Sallie McGlothlin Smith. Dorothy graduated from Oakvale High School and went on to obtain her LPN Certificate from Mercer County Technical Education Center.  She later furthered her education at Bluefield State College obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Dorothy retired from Princeton Community Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She also worked at Princeton Health Care Center as the assistant director of nursing. She taught many future nurses in her career. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rufus R. Brown of 64 years. Her son Alan Brown and her siblings, Inez Smith, Albert Smith, Arlie Smith and Robert Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include her children Rufus E. Brown and wife Connie, and Timothy Brown. Grandchildren Rufus Brown II, Benjamin Brown, Sheri Hall, Stacy Saunders, Matthew Brown. 6 Great-Grandchildren. Brother George Smith. Funeral services to celebrate the life Dorothy Brown will be held Friday March 18, 2022, at 6 P.M. from the Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service with Pastor Steve Howdock officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 P.M. until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday March 19, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
