James Dale Perkins, 86, of Powell Mountain Road died on Sunday August 6, 2023, at his residence. James was born October 19, 1936 on Powell Mountain to the late Alfred Perkins and Daisy Powell Perkins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Bobby, Roger and Dorothy.Stepson Brian Lester. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Piney Perkins, Stepchildren Tara Starcher and fiancé Dayton,and Jason Lester and wife Bobbi Jo. Step Grandchildren Channing Lester and wife Emily and Andrew Lester and wife Emily both of Princeton and Cassie Burtop and Husband Zach of Pennsylvania. Step-Greatgrandchildren Berklee Lester and Jensen Lester. Siblings Chuck Perkins and Lorraine Amick. Nephew who he treated like a brother Rusty Perkins. His best friend Allen Dunnigan and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of James Perkins will be held Friday August 11, 2023, at 7 P.M., from the Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service, with Pastor Morris Clyburn officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday Ausust 12, 2023, 11AM at Elgood Cemetery those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by the service hour.
