James Earl Whitlow, 69, of Kellysville Road, Princeton, died Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born August 18, 1950 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Alice Whitt Whitlow. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother uncle and friend. James served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked in the coal mines and also worked in the construction industry. James loved hunting, fishing, hunting ginseng and just being in the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Houston, James, Dean, Benny, Larry, Harry, Lois, Claris, Betty Jo, Connie, Jeff and Billy. Surviving is his wife Ellen and loving children, Jimmy J. Whitlow and wife Ann, Becky Gibson and husband Casey; Grandchildren, Briana Whitlow and fiancée Curtis Nicholson, Casey J; Delney and Zoey Gibson; Two great-grandchildren, Axton and Azlynn Nicholson; Two sisters, Donna Tignor and Patsy Elliott; Special niece, Amy Beth Dunn; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of James Earl Whitlow will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, November 7, 2019 from the from G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service. Burial will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with military graveside rites. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7;00 P.M. at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
