John Lee Holdren, 80 of Elgood Mountain Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 26, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home. John was born on April 7, 1945, in Glen Lyn, VA, to the late Clay and Bertie Holdren. John loved his dogs, gardening and most of all his family always looking to spend time together. He worked until his retirement for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He attended Dry Pond Regular Baptist Church in Ballard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Estaline, DelMar, Betty, Fred, Lula, Clayton, Phil, and Paul. John is survived by his wife of 51 years Diana Holdren, Children Steven Holdren, Jennifer Holdren and Tara Holdren, siblings Virginia Rossiter, and James Holdren, brothers-in-law Jerry Harry (Deanna), and Randall Harry. Sisters-in-law Josephine Holdren and Shirley Neely. Funeral services to celebrate the life of John Holdren will be held at 1 PM Saturday November 29, 2025 at Fredeking Funeral Service with Pastor Tim Spencer officiating. The family has requested that everyone dress casual as John would want. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12 noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oakvale Cemetery Family and Friends will Serve as pallbearers. Online Condolences may be shared with the family via www.fredekingfs.com.
