Lonnie Blankenship Obituary

Lonnie Nathan Blankenship, 81 of Princeton, departed this life to be with the Lord November 1, 2019 after battling Liver cancer. Nathan went peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family and 2 dedicated Amedisys Hospice employees Jennifer and Sherry.  Born April 8, 1938 in Mercer County, Nathan was the son of the late Emory Blankenship and Cleo Terry Blankenship and the last of his siblings Emory Lee Blankenship (Tina) Claudia Ann Blankenship Hurt and Shirley Mae Waldron (Dickie) and 3 infant siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Shelby Lane Blankenship of Princeton and her children that he loved as his own, Dewey Junior Lane, Brian Lane, Kimberly Fela and Melissa Harman all of Princeton. Grandchildren Margo Harman, Alex Harman, Zachary Harman, Derek Watson (Stephanie) Great Grandsons Eli, Oakley and Lucas Watson.  Nieces and nephews, Sheila Shelburne (Terry) Larry Waldron, Richard Waldron (Kathy) Melissa Weiss (Mike) Patrica Mount, Sherry Dobbins (Rusty) Lisa Reynolds (Bobby) and one Aunt Virginia Terry Crabtree (Jessie). Nathan was a dedicated Christian and attended Kellysville Church of God (Pastor Atkins) The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ (Pastor Hazelwood) and Sweet Home Baptist Church (Thurman Belcher). For 79 years Nathan dedicated his life to work, church and family and remained single until he met his one and only true love Shelby Lane. Falling in love at first sight, engaged on date two and marrying August 5, 2017. True Love that made news in the Bluefield Telegraph.  Nathan’s last two years of his life were filled with joy while he cruised and vacationed with his true love. So much happiness that God allowed Nathan to experience before his departure from this earth. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Nathan, will be held at Noon. Tuesday, November 5, 2019, from the Sweet Home Baptist Church on Willowbrook Road in Princeton with Pastor Thurmond Belcher and Paul Terry officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.  Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from11 until the service hour at the church. Family is requested to be at the church at 10:30 A.M Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.fredekingfs.com. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
