Lynuel W. Hazelwood, 55, of Clemons Road, Elgood, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 16, 2020 with his daughter by his side. Born September 4, 1964, in Princeton, he was the son of Paul D. Hazelwood and the late Bernice Billings Hazelwood. Lynuel attended Athens High School and worked in the Maintenance Department at Concord University for 23 years. He was best known by “Lenny” to his family and friends. Before his health declined he was an avid hunter and fisherman and had many stories and pictures to share of his outdoor experiences. Lenny was known for bringing laughter to any conversation and his kind hearted spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael David Hazelwood. Left to cherish his memory include his father, Paul D. Hazelwood; His daughter, Elisha Edgell and husband David; Two grandchildren, Deegan and Cora Edgell; One sister, Debbie Kessler and husband Eddie; Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends are also left to cherish is memory. Private services will be held Friday, May 22, 2020 from the Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow in Elgood Cemetery.
