Marilyn Harry Obituary

Marilyn Joan Cook Harry 86 of Princeton peacefully passed into the heavenly realm on Monday, April 21, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn had been suffering from a lengthy illness and had recently been a resident of Lindside Healthcare and Nursing Facility. The healthcare workers as well as at Giles County Hospital are, we believe, angels here on earth and much loved by Marilyn and her family. Marilyn was born on May 3, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Mary Alice Bresnan and Waldo Llano Cook. Marilyn resided in Sterling, Kansas until 1964 when the family relocated to West Virginia. In 1956, Marilyn met the love of her life, a smiling handsome West Virginian, Gilbert Paul Harry, who quickly announced that he was going to marry her. He did on May 7, 1956 in Lyons, Kansas, so this young Navy man married a sweet girl from the heartland and were happily together for 42 years until her husband’s death in February 1999.Marilyn was a gifted, self-taught artist who loved sketching and painting nature’s beauty. She and Gib enjoyed traveling WV’s scenic backroads while listening to music and talking about their family. They were happy, content and forever in love. She leaves an enduring legacy of contentment and love. Marilyn had attended the Church of God in Princeton. Surviving are Marilyn’s children, Joni L. Dempsey Edgell of Princeton, Samuel P. Harry (Deceased) his wife, Debra Barrett Harry of Parker, CO, Caren K. Harry Augustine and her husband Edward of Virginia Beach, VA and James L. Harry and his wife Brenda Bolar Harry (Deceased) of Princeton and sons, Josh and Clay Bolar.
