Melanie Jo Ellis, 39, died Friday, August 13, 2021, in a car accident on U.S. State Route 460 at Oakvale. Born October 30, 1981, she was the daughter of Delorse Jean Marcum-Bowles and Kenneth Darrell Bowles Melanie was raised in Eckman, WV and has been a long time resident of Princeton. She was a graduate of Mt. View High School and attended church in Rich Creek, VA. Melanie loved being a caregiver to those in her community. She loved crafting, fishing with her children, and especially taking care of her family. Melanie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jesse and Orpha Marcum and her uncle Ivory Marcum. Left to cherish her memory are her loving parents Kenneth Darrell Bowles and Delorse Jean Marcum- Bowles of Princeton. Loving children, Averial Rose and Nathaniel Eugene of Princeton. Loving brother, Jesse Lewis Lambert of Princeton. Loving sisters, Lori Bowles Noland of Mineral, VA and Kasey Trent of Asheville, NC and Latasha Nicole Lambert of Bluefield, WV Special “Auntie” Brookey Ann Marcum-Pettry and husband David Wayne Pettry of Princeton; Cousins Christina Lynn Henderson, Erica Nicole Warner both of Princeton and Eric Raydell Marcum of Eckman. Several other aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones also survive. The family has honored Melanie’s request that she be cremated. Memorial services will be conducted at Fredeking Funeral Services in Oakvale on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 2:30 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
