Orville J. “Big Chew” Shorter, 75, of Princeton died Wednesday, April  12, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born January 29, 1942 in Mercer County he was the son of the late Orville Earnest Shorter and Gladys Virginia Belcher. He was a retired coal miner with Consolidated Coal Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Lee Shorter; and two brothers, Randy Shorter and Johnny Shorter. Survivors include his wife of fifty two years, Ella Jane Holdren Shorter of Princeton; one son, Brian Shorter of Princeton; four sisters, Gay Widner, Alice Harry, Nancy Jones, and Dana Shorter; and three brothers,   Roy Shorter, Barry Shorter, and Lewis Shorter. Friends may call at Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale form 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, April 15, 2017 for visitation. There will be no funeral services. In keeping with Orville’s wishes his body will be cremated following the visitation.
