He pastored his church Faith Tabernacle in Elgood WV and visited many churches throughout the state during his salvation and dedication to the Lord. He was and always will  be a true light to everyone who knew him.  Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the great outdoors. He also took pride in gardening and canning with his wife every harvest seasoning. He was known for his well-kept and very prosperous garden and fruit trees. He always gave away just as much if not more than he had grown each year. Paul honorably served in the military, branch of the Army, from March of 1951 through December of 1952. He was a Korean War Veteran who served his country proud. It wasn't until later in his life when he began to share his memories of war with his children and grandchildren who all now have a great  appreciation for his military service. Paul has told of stories of being on the front lines for 54 days in the  bitter cold, eating a Christmas dinner on a blanket of snow and many more memories that are far too  much for us all to comprehend. He also spoke of a bible that his mother gave him that shielded him  from gunfire during the war.  Paul Hazelwood lived a simple life after the military, coming home to WV to marry his sweetheart, building a family, working hard and with great integrity and most importantly living his life as the Lord intended and becoming a devout servant of the Lord and great witness to all who was willing to listen.  He set the example for his family and all who knew him.
