Peggy Ann Gordon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and Child of God passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on January 29, 2025 finally earning her unfading crown of glory.
Peggy was born in Princeton on April 10, 1942 to Henry and Francis Dunn and was the second oldest of 9 Dunn children.
On Valentine’s Day of 1960 she married Johnie Lewis, the love of her life whom she spent more than 65 years in love. Together they raised three sons into men on their home place.
She was a lifelong member of Kellysville Church of God, where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 4 decades. For 33 years, Peggy served as a cook at Oakvale School. She loved the people of her community and served them in so many ways, whether it was cooking or providing for someone in need. Anyone who ever visited her home knows that if you left hungry it was your own fault.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie, her mother and father, her sisters Lorraine and Amy, and brother-in-law Fred Chandler.
Left to carry on her legacy are her three sons: Johnie, Jr. (Donna) of Bluefield, Michael Wayne (Jessica) of Hurricane, and Scottie Lee (Amber) of Kellysville. Seven grandchildren: Weston (Cathy) of Huntington, Bret (Geraldine) of Saint Albans, Evan (Tuesday) of Princeton, Byron (Courtney) of Beckley, Savana (Jacob) of Eleanor, Jazmin (Adam) of Charleston, and Preston of Princeton. Eight great-grandchildren: Makayla, Jaxon, Scarlette, Emmett, Piper, Aiden, Sophia, and Sebastian. Brothers: Thomas (Sherry), Henry (Maria), and Dave (Pam) Dunn. Sisters: Rita Neal (Melvin), Virgie (Roger) Lafferty, Mary Heath (Freddy). Her beloved sister-in-law Mona Anne Chandler, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. And two very special friends, Frances “Lady Bug” Bailey and Segrid Law.
We would also like to share our love and gratitude to the staff of Princeton Health Care Center, and sweet Lucy who shared a room with our sweet Peggy the last few weeks. Lucy has been an angel we didn’t know we needed throughout this time.
Pallbearers will be: Vince Meyer, Evan Gordon, Randy Whitlow, Bret Gordon, Byron Gordon, David Repass, Kevin Whitlow, Jaxon Gordon, and alternate Preston Gordon. Friends may call on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2-5pm at Kellysville Church of God. Celebration of life will take place following viewing. Graveside burial will take place on Sunday at 2:30pm New Zion Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by the service hour.
