Randy Carroll Obituary

Ernest “Randy” Carroll, 72, passed away on February 24, 2026. He was born on April 2, 1953, to the late Maynard and Iva (Belcher) Carroll, and was a lifelong resident of Oakvale, West Virginia, where he raised his family and built a life rooted in community, faith, and hard work.

Randy was a steady and dependable presence throughout his life, someone his family could always count on for quiet strength, thoughtful guidance, and unwavering support. He lived simply and worked hard, believing deeply in doing right by others and providing for those he loved.

Over the years, Randy held many jobs, each one reflecting his strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever was needed. From coal mining to mechanical work, to driving a fish hatchery truck, he approached every role with diligence and pride. He later found long-term fulfillment as a custodian with Mercer County Schools, where he retired after 20 years of dedicated service.

Outside of work, Randy found joy in hands-on pursuits. He loved hunting, restoring and working on classic trucks, and small engine repair. These were the kinds of projects that allowed him to slow down, focus, and do what he enjoyed most. His calm demeanor and practical skills made him someone others naturally turned to for help or advice.

A man of faith, Randy was a devoted member of the Oakvale Church of the Brethren, where he led devotion and served his church family with humility and care. His faith guided his life and shaped the way he treated others, with patience, kindness, and quiet confidence.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Carroll, and by his beloved wife of 52 years, Connie Carroll. Together, Randy and Connie built a life centered on family, faith, and service that continues to be felt by all who knew them.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Donald Carroll; his son, Ernie Carroll and wife Holly; his daughter, Becki Whitlow; and his four cherished grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and joy in his life.

A joint memorial service honoring both Randy and Connie will be announced at a later date, with the time and place to be shared when arrangements are finalized.
