Ricky Meadows Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ricky Allen Meadows, who left this world far too soon on October 2nd, 2025, at the age of 65.  He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.  Ricky was born on September 5th, 1960 in Princeton, WV to Dana (Comer) Hubbard and Albert Meadows.  He lived his childhood in Elgood and attended Oakvale Highschool until it’s closure.  He graduated from Athens Highschool, Class of 1978.

In highschool he was a star player for both the Oakvale Owls and Athens Trojans bascketball teams and loved to spend his time riding dirt bikes- an early sign of the adventurous spirit he carried throughout his life. As a young adult, Ricky moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he enjoyed beach life and discovered his love of landscaping, until returning home to the hills of West Virginia in 1996.  He worked as a machinist by trade, at Swanson Plating & Machine, where he retired in 2020. He harnessed his love of nature’s beauty by owning and operating a successful landscaping company, “A Cut Above”, from 1996 to 2016.

A hardworking provider, he worked tirelessly to ensure his family was cared for. His strength, reliability, and selflessness were the quiet foundations upon which his family depended.

An adventurer at heart, Ricky loved to ride motorcycles and 4-wheelers, often found exploring trails and enjoying the freedom of the open road. He found joy in the simple pleasures—listening to music, working in his yard, and soaking in the beauty of the natural world.

His happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends, laughing, sharing stories, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. His fun-loving nature, easy going demeanor, and infectious smile made every gathering brighter.

In addition to his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Meadows; and one cousin, Darrel Holdren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Rebecca (Christopher) Yurchick, Ricky (Allison) Meadows, Jr; his grandchildren, London Meadows, Jonah Meadows, Meadow Yurchick, Bailey Meadows, Harper Meadows, and Willow Yurchick; his beloved partner of many years, Beverly Butler; children of Beverly whom he loved dearly, Hobie Butler, and Nicholas Butler; grandchildren, Levi Butler, Benton Butler, Mika Butler, and Samuel Butler; 3 Brothers, Gary Meadows, Michael (Rebecca) Meadows, and Danny (Linda) Meadows, 1 Sister Brittany (Brett) Sanders.  He is also survived by former wife and mother of his children, Deborah (Thomas) Pagenkopf.

Ricky’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the friendships he built, and the love he shared. His passing marks the end of an era for those who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
