Virginia Thompson Obituary

Virginia Lois Thompson, 93 of Kellysville went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 13, 2018 at her home. Born on November 5, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Darrell H. and Edith Johnson Buckland.  She was retired from the Mercer County School Board having served as a cook at Oakvale School, she was a member of the New Zion Regular Baptist Church and was loved by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel C. Thompson, two sons, Arvel “Hampton” Thompson and Clayton “Todd” Thompson. One grandson, Joey Eades. Four sisters, Jerry, Flora Elizabeth, Sylvia and Betty Lou and one brother, Darrell Buckland, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Carol McKenzie and husband James of Princeton and Drema Janney and husband Jerry of Narrows, Virginia; Daughter-in-law, Judy Thompson of Princeton; Grandchildren, Jill Bryant, Jimmy McKenzie and wife DeeDee, Arvel “Bitty” Thompson, Tanya Thompson; Two Great Grandchildren, Joey Eades and wife Casey and Austin Eades Bradley, Carson and Asher McKenzie; Two Great Great Grandchildren, Brady and Emma Eades. Also surviving is two sisters, Luella Lafon of Salem, Virginia and Clara Ruth Miller of Peterstown and a very special friend and neighbor, Eula Thompson. Several nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Virginia Lois Thompson will be held, Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the New Zion Regular Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the New Zion Cemetery where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale and one hour prior to services at the church.
