Walter Wade Obituary

Walter Stanley Wade, 90, previously of Cheesy Creek, Princeton WV entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Our Lady of the Valley in Roanoke, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Flora (Blankenship) Wade; sisters: Lena Wade Basham (Clyde),  Mildred Wade Haywood (Elmer), and Aretta Wade Mitchell (Cecil); brothers: Gene Wade and Warren Lee Wade; parents-in-law, Claude and Lura (Wall) Fulcher; brothers-in-law James Pollard and Andy Shrewsberry.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Dot) Fulcher Wade; daughter, Cindy Harvey (Brandol) of Daleville VA; son, Steve Wade (Valerie Stilipec) of North Pole, AK; sister, Hazel Pollard of Rich Creek, VA; brother, Owen Tee Wade (Mary Lou) of Dublin, VA; special sister-in-love, Sylvia Sively (Richard) of Princeton, WV; numerous nephews and nieces including special nephews Tommy and Joey Bailey.

Walter was a loving father and husband who led a rich, full life.  He was a humble man with a gentle manner and kind heart.  During good health, he was a helper to friends and family.  He loved gardening, cutting grass, hunting and traveling.  Walter retired from Glen Lyn Power Plant after 42 years.  He was a member of Glen Lyn Church of Christ.  Walter lived a Christian life setting an excellent example for his family and friends.

Today is a sad day for Walter’s family but a happy day in Heaven as he joins Christ, and other family members and friends.  In addition, he now has a new, healthy and whole body and will be able to run, be pain free and breathe freely. 

To honor Walter’s life, a funeral service will be held Saturday May 21, 2022, at 5 P.M. from the Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale, WV with Pastor Dan Nichols officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Glen Lyn Church of Christ Benevolent Fund.  The family extends a special thank you to Walter’s caregivers at Our Lady of the Valley and Good Sam Hospice.
